We've been offered a property to own and will be putting a downpayment on it in March 2017! We will continue to have events to keep sharing music by and with everyone! About this project
Lorain County Music Fest is a not for profit, for the LOVE of Music, donation sponsored, volunteer staffed, music supporters & performers event. It is our way of putting back the gifts we have into our community. We believe: Music is the Universal Language we ALL understand. We showcase established, as well as new, up & coming acts & also debut 1st time out performers, in a non biased outdoor concert venue that welcomes all genres & all ages in a peaceful nature appreciative camping community atmosphere. In short we have provided through donations and volunteering, an affordable camping and music venue for all in our community and beyond.
"Ever since I realized that I was a musician:
I have been involved with or performed for too many to mention charities, fundraisers, and countless causes with my own band and many others. That's over 25 years of benefits, fundraisers and just plain giving! I took those experiences and now we have created a vehicle with the help of all these amazing people, to make music to help others make music!"
~ Geri Ciacchi ~ President Lorain County Music Fest
Every year
Since 2005 we have launched this event on a wing, a prayer & lots of good Chi, (we did loose 1 year way back due to lack of funding) this August 4th-6th 2017 will be our 11th year! We have been hosting 3 events a year for the last 4 years, Mongo Spring Campout in May, Red's Music Memorial in the Fall and Lorain County Music Fest in August being our biggest & longest annual event! Last year we had over 500 guests! This year we are adding Bender Rd Fest June 23rd - 25th to help raise money for breast cancer research!
We were just approved for our 501(c)(3) status and we have a property owner that is willing to work with us on a lease to own for the permanent festival site. We have now put the money down. The building on the property is sound & has been remodeled & updated to almost completion. We have an agreement with the owners for the roof repair materials to be provided if we do the work! So look out Spring we already have a volunteer roofing crew, but will take more lol! Obtaining the property will mean we no longer have to struggle to pay for the venue itself (although all previous properties & their people have been amazing!) this cuts the expense of the event in HALF! So we can take the monies and put them towards music charities in our area.
Our mission is to make this a self sustaining property with (already partially established!) food gardens, a covered stage with sound & housing for volunteers, and staff during events. Like an Outdoor Musicians Club! We have been & will continue making & providing all natural/organic produce, salves, balms & other natural/organic products, plants & produce to the community.
Our Long Term Goal
Is to expand the gardens to provide food for staff and volunteers throughout each year, and offer our excess to the community. Eventually obtain A goat and chickens to help maintain property grasses and gardens as ecologically capable as we can. This will help us to self sustain even further. We are also working towards solar panels and possibly wind for power.
We want to GROW
And continue to grow, and keep offering our youth and more a venue to play music in. By 2020 we want to hold a 2 - 4 week Kid's Rock Camp with teachers to help under priviledged and or special needs children to learn to play music, ending in all the kids involved performing at our annual event! We are working on creating a internship program with local school music programs and hope that by 2025 we hope to be making donations to local schools music programs in other ways or possibly send an underprivileged child to school for music like Oberlin college.
This property and it's events will continue to put back into the community by providing excellent entertainment and recreation for all and bring revenue to the surrounding merchants as well, as we have proven for over a decade. You cannot imagine the gratitude we feel for the continuing support of all the volunteers, donors, music lovers, musicians & supporters. This year we even have some friends that are helping us seek sponsors! Our Festival Family is AMAZING won't you please join our family!!??
THANK YOU! For supporting Live Local Music & helping keep it alive!
We are also accepting donations of used, reclaimed, green and new building and finishing materials!
anything we can use in the construction of stage, sound tent, pavilion, staff housing, shelter and, bathrooms. Like wood, all kinds, panels, metal and fiberglass shed sheeting, paint, tools, screws, nails, stage equipment, camping equipment, tents, or supplies, anything that could be recycled or gifted for a outside music camping event etc. We could really use a golfcart or gator to help maintain the property and for use for fests! Do you know somebody doing teardowns or remodeling or construction or cleaning out a garage or building in the Lorain County or surrounding area please refer them to us
[email protected] 440-654-7000
we may even be able to pick up materials. THANK YOU!
Risks and challenges
We've been hosting, building, fine tuning and evolving this event for over a decade. We have always persevered, We have survived against many odds, including no funding, no stage, tornado touchdowns, severe storms, rain outs, power outages, and even HAIL, re locations, no shows, band break ups, divorces, deaths of family, friends, performers, staff and supporters. We have modeled some of our techniques after successful for profit events WITHOUT their budget! We've worked VERY hard to get to this point and Our Goal was to start becoming self sustaining by our 10th annual event, and we are soooo close. We never expected such a wonderful opportunity as being able to OBTAIN OUR OWN FEST PROPERTY! Every year we will pull it off and do it for the love of MUSIC and in memory of all who've been involved and have passed and do what we love to do until we can no longer DO IT!
